On OS X and my pecuniary shortcomings
My setup is becoming rapidly outdated. I'm running Panther on a PPC iBook. I'm not having any problems with the machine, but (a) a lot of new software updates are requiring Tiger, (b) I can't play with useful/fun-looking Dashboard widgets and (c) I have no Spotlight.
On the other hand, I'm not really missing anything by not having the latest upgrades — I have all the applications that I need and more, I would probably need to double my ram to be able to use Dashboard widgets the way I want and not have them take away power from my other apps, and I have Quicksilver, which does most of what I would want Spotlight to do.
Still, I'm going to have to upgrade soon. Who knew that becoming a Mac geek would be damned expensive?
Update: I had a long update and I published right as WP.com server maintenance happened, so fugghet about it.
